The Mordheim Tabletop Game
One of the most popular games in the Warhammer universe is that of the Mordheim tabletop game. This is a game that is based more on combat between individual units. Here’s a look at how the Mordheim tabletop game works.
The Mordheim tabletop game takes place in the ancient city of Mordheim before the original Warhammer game takes place. The players in the game all have to capture a stone that is considered to be highly valuable and will lead the winner to fortune.
In the Mordheim tabletop game a player can choose from one of various different warbands. A warband is a group of units that work as one group. Each figure on the board represents a certain number of warriors in the game. A warband will consist of a Hero, who makes the decisions that the group follows, and Henchmen, who are not allowed to use any special kind of equipment but can develop experience and skills over time. In some instances characters will mutate and develop new powers at a cost.
Gold crowns are used to purchase units at the start of the game. Each unit will have its own cost value, and mutations that can be used to improve a unit’s abilities will cost gold crowns too.
Each warband will have its own advantages and disadvantages. The Undead, for instance, is not skilled at shooting but the Skaven are. Also, the Possessed are fast but are not the strongest units in the game.
There are three different kinds of warbands that can be used in the Mordheim tabletop game. There are Official Warbands, which are created by Games Workshop, the inventor of the Warhammer and Mordheim tabletop games. Unofficial Warbands are created by Games Workshop and are generally used for specialist games and are not approved for use in Mordheim tabletop game tournaments. Experimental Warbands are ones that are not created by Games Workshop and are not mentioned in official rule books. These warbands, of course, are not intended for use in tournaments. One website, the Mordheimer’s Information Centre, has some of these experimental groups at mordheimer.com.
The Mordheim tabletop game is generally available for sale at stores today. A Mordheim tabletop game set will include all of the pieces for units and terrain that are needed. However, in order to get a more up to date rulebook and all of the information that is needed for the game it is best to go to the Games Workshop website for the Mordheim tabletop game. The rule books, which include campaign information and data on all of the warbands, are available at Specialist-games.com/mordheim.
